Last month, AddShoppers was excited to announce a company-wide food drive benefiting various food banks across their employees’ hometowns. For the month of November, AddShoppers’ employees were split into two teams for the food drive based on their geographical region; Team Charlotte and Team Ohio. The teams were tasked with collecting the most needed items for their local food banks, and the winning team would win a $1,000 donation to their region's Second Harvest food bank.
The AddShoppers Fall Food Drive is one of the ways the company strives to live its core value, “Be a great human.” This can mean something different to each employee you ask at AddShoppers, but being a great human generally involves helping other humans, whether at work or in your community. As a remote company, it is extremely important to have a strong culture that can be felt and appreciated only through a digital workspace.
Employees had the opportunity to drop off donations at any food bank in their area and send in a picture with their donation count that would go toward their team's total. AddShoppers also hosted two in-person events in Charlotte and Ohio, where cans could be dropped off. At the end of the month, all donations were tallied, and the winner was Team Charlotte! Team Charlotte took the lead by over 50 items winning the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina a $1,000 donation. AddShoppers couldn’t leave out the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning valley, though, and they will be receiving a $500 donation.
Both the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley are partners of Feeding America. The Feeding America network is made up of over 200 food banks and the largest hunger relief organization in the country. The work they do helps feed about 40 million Americans each year AddShoppers couldn’t be happier to help support this cause.
