AddShoppers Joins the All-In to Fight Cancer Poker Tournament in Support of Cancer Research
Recently our founders and some of our employees had the pleasure of attending, and for some playing in, All-In to Fight Cancer’s annual Texas Hold ‘Em tournament. It wasn’t just any ordinary poker tournament, though. Almost every year since 2011, All-In has hosted this charity poker tournament in Charlotte, benefiting various local cancer charities. This year the beneficiaries were Go Jen Go, the Paula Takacs Foundation, Atrium Health, and Levine Cancer Institute. All are incredible organizations that treat and care for cancer patients, conduct critical cancer research, and support patients, families, and survivors. Over 725+ people came out to the Fillmore on March 2nd to play poker and enjoy delicious food and good music in support of this extraordinary cause. It was their largest event yet.
Our team members that attended had a fantastic time both playing in and observing the poker games. They played alongside survivors, family members, and friends, all of whom had been touched by cancer in some way. Some incredible people spoke about their experiences, either their own or a loved one’s experience with the disease, demonstrating how important events like these are for the cancer-fighting community. Seeing how many great humans in our community came together to support All-In and their fight against cancer was incredible.
Overall, the poker tournament to fight cancer was a huge success. The event raised $340,000 for cancer research and support services and brought together a community of people committed to making a difference. As a company that values great humans, we were honored to be an event sponsor and get to play a small part in such a well-supported event.
At AddShoppers, one of our core values is being a great human. This can mean something different to every one of our team members, but typically involves being helpful, empathetic, and kind. On average, our great humans support and encourage each other as we work toward ambitious goals each day. From jumping in on a project to helping a teammate or going the extra mile to solve a data problem, our employees impress us daily. Striving to be great humans has created a positive work environment we are proud of, one that encourages collaboration, positivity, helpfulness, and autonomy.
It is important that being great humans extends to our local communities as well. We believe that by working together with our community partners and local charities, we can create meaningful and lasting change that benefits everyone. Our commitment to community outreach not only helps those in need but also strengthens our company culture by fostering a sense of purpose and unity among our employees. Being a remote company with team members in different states gives us the opportunity to support communities all over the country. So far AddShoppers has supported All-In to Fight Cancer out of Charlotte, NC, Compass to Care out of Chicago, IL, the Second Harvest Foodbank of the Mahoning Valley (Youngstown, OH), and Charlotte, NC. We can’t wait to expand our reach to more organizations as we #Keepgrowing!
